Faraway

http://www.youtube.com/timhavens
Been thinking about the past, almost two years spent in North Carolina. On April 25th, 2008 I'm moving to Missouri. I'm really excited about the move. Hoping to see and experience new things. Maybe photograph some severe weather (something I really love).

Anyway...I miss Tara Evans in Missouri, and I'll see her in less than two weeks now.

The title Faraway, is really something I'm still trying to understand. But this video gives me goose bumps so I know I did something right with it.

I'm glad I'm about to leave North Carolina, but these mountains here call me in my sleep sometimes. So I know I'll be missing them dearly. This is probably the last video I'll be making of THIS area in North Carolina (at least of the mountains here). Seems like a fitting Good Bye Video to the Beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.

I shot this time-lapsed video using my Canon 40D, and three lenses.

* 70-200mm Sigma
* 28-135mm Canon
* 10-22mm Canon EF-S

There are 980 STILL photo's in this video and no video movies at all.

This mornings "Shoot" again at Thunder Hill, near Blowing Rock, NC was not particularly spectacular but it was still a very pleasant experience. There are about 500 Still images in this time-lapsed video. I think my favorite images where of the Moon and I'm sure that youtubes compression will limit the beauty of it for you, but the new 70-200mm Sigma telephoto lens with a 2x tele-converter really proved to me it's worth with these lunar shots.

The Blue Ridge Parkway was closed, CLOSED!!! once again, and I can't tell you how it tweaks me that they barricade the road when there is a potential for ice on it. I wanted to get back to a beautiful stream in a section that is inaccessible when it's closed off this weekend. Just friggin burns me up when they do this. :(

There were numerous deer along the ride up, and although I searched for hours I didn't see any when I had the camera at the ready this time. Almost seems unusual when I don't see some actually.

I hope you enjoy this video. The music is outstanding and fits the mood of my morning I think. :-)

This video consists of 817 still photos and no video clips. There was no photo cropping or retouching. Colors are straight out of the sky. This is another Time-Lapse video.

Some of the images in this video were no doubt by absolute favorites.

I asked that my camera and I be blessed on my drive up to this location (Thunder Hill, on the Blue Ridge Parkway) and I have to say I believe I was! I hope you are too.

This series of 771 STILL images forms an interesting time-lapse based on events that occurred the morning of 2008-02-24 as seen through my camera, and merged with some amazing tunez from Bassnectar. I've learned the past year that the music choice makes these types of video's work or fail. And so many songs by Bassnectar just work with the style of time-lapse I enjoy.

An interesting note: the first 30 seconds of this video it was PITCH BLACK out about 6-6:20am. These were 30 second exposures using f/3.5 with my Canon 40D and I used a 10-22mm Canon wide angle lens for the entire shoot.

There are about 315 still photo's used in this mostly time-lapsed video taken on the morning of 2008-02-23 on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Unfortunately some of the absolute best pix I've ever taken weren't usable because I got major crap on the inside of my only zoom lens. :( I had to crop a fair amount and totally abandon use of some of the best. It still came out pretty decent.

I was really intrigued by the fluid dynamics of the fog below, as it rocked in and out of the valley, almost like the ocean pounding on a rocky coastline. As the morning went on it appeared as if the tide was going out. Very cool to see time-lapsed.
